What's the difference between a corbel and cornice?
A corbel is a bracket-shaped piece that sits under a beam, shelf, arch or mantel, often as a decorative support. Cornice is the continuous moulding that runs along the join between wall and ceiling.
How are the measurements given?
Corbel sizes are height by width, not depth. Cornice sizes are height by projection, meaning how far the profile runs down the wall and out across the ceiling. All measurements are approximate.
Can you match the cornice in an older home?
Yes. We make custom moulds and can recreate a profile from an existing section, the same way we approach heritage restoration work.
